taskbar preview

Taskbar Preview?

I'm running Windows Vista December CTP on my notebook with Aero Glass enabled.
When I hover my mouse over the icons on the taskbar you are supposed to get a live preview popup of the application. I'm only getting the old standard text tooltip.
What could be wrong?
Olav

Check in the properties for the task bar that you have the option ticked.

Could be the graphics drivers. I'm not too sure what determines whether the preview shows or not. My desktop pc (using a nvidia 6200) shows the preview, but my laptop (using a nvidia 5200) doesn't. Not sure if anyone else can offer up any more suggestions? Andre?

I have tried both the built-in ATI driver in the December CTP and I have also installed the ATI driver from their website. That made no difference. I get glass with both. My notebook as a ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB.

Sounds like you're video card is not supporting the full featured AeroGlass mode. What video card are you running? Are window borders transparent? If not, the video card is not fully supporting AeroGlass.
Check the video driver & see if it is suffixed with "LDDM" (Longhorn Display Driver Model ). If not, check video card compatibility and functionality.
Remember this is a beta, so driver functionality changes with each build.

I was just going to say, make sure you actually install the LDDM drivers from the ATI website. I've got a link on VistaBase - www.zacknet.co.uk/vistabase and click on Graphics - the obvious link is in there and also the artcile provides you with a link to the manufacturers download.

Yes, and verify the LDDM driver is the one actually being used in Device Manager, as there are multiple drivers for the same hardware.

But is it an LDDM driver, as RonK said, open Device Manager and expand Display and check if (LDDM) is beside your card. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Can you get Aero Glass on a non LDDM driver?

I have Glass, so that means that I have the LDDM driver.
But, I don't still have Taskbar Preview.

This is actually pretty easy - turn off Windows Media Player from taskbar's Toolbars menu. (right click your taskbar and untick WMP in Tolbars). This enables taskbar transpareny as well. I belive these are just bugs.
Let me know if this works.
